Us Hounds

The house, we grew up in, had something inside,
I was nine, when I swore it’d be there that I die.
It’s not there anymore, its upkeep a chore.
The crown tore it down, now all the remain,
Are us hounds.

The house we grew up in had something inside,
I was nine when I swore it was there that I’d die.
Couldn't live with that lie, the townspeople cried,
As they ripped apart it's humble heart,
A child of nine laid down to die.

It was more than a ruin, when we knew it best.
Without champagne bars and lavish cars,
We all had our loves, and they were dressed up in gloves.
Then they burned all the trees around,
The waves came in and washed them out,
Owners now drowned, us hounds nowhere bound.
And the house we grew up in had something inside,
I was nine when I swore it’d be there, there that I’d die.
